What is the Woodland Carbon scheme?

19th May, 2023

The Woodland Carbon Scheme is a voluntary, accredited and award-winning carbon removal scheme which aims to help reduce the UK's carbon by mitigating carbon emissions. This is achieved by allowing organisations and individuals to fund tree planting in the UK in coordination with the Woodland Trust.

Planting trees remains one of the cheapest and most effective methods of drawing CO2 from the atmosphere, and planting just one large tree could replace 10 room-sized air conditioners that are operated for 20 hours per day.

What are the benefits of the scheme?

Whilst the carbon benefits of woodlands are global, there are a number of benefits that reach a local audience including tree planting and building up woodland which will help the UK landscape be more resilient to climate change. As well as mitigating your carbon emissions there are a range of benefits to being part of the Woodland Carbon Scheme:

  • Raise awareness of your environmental and corporate responsibilities
  • Create a strong marketing message to your stakeholders about your commitment and responsibility to the environment
  • Supporting natural ecosystems, biodiversity and wildlife by planting native tree species
  • Helping to establish new woodlands for future generations to enjoy

How it works

If you wish to mitigate the carbon produced in the creation of your printed literature, just let us know. We will accurately calculate the volume of carbon produced in your print run, and your literature can be printed with the Woodland Carbon logo if you wish. 100% of the Woodland Carbon charges are paid directly to the Woodland Trust to fund the mitigation of the carbon by planting trees at one of their accredited UK woodland creation sites.

If you would like to mitigate the carbon in your printed literature or have any questions about how we can help you achieve your next project, get in touch at justask@justdigitalprint.co.uk or give us a call on 01480 825000.
